Small Businesses & Social Impact
Small businesses in the UK are generally far more generous in terms of charity giving than larger companies. This statement may come as a surprise to those used to seeing large companies proclaiming their support for the local community.
Research has shown that small and medium sized businesses are often actively involved in their local communities, with gifts, mentoring or other 'gifts-in-kind'. Where large companies often spend extensively on marketing their work, small companies tend to get on and do it.
I believe that I am in business to make money, I have to be. But I am also in business to make a difference. What else is the point? To give a favourite quote:
'If I am not for myself, who is? If I am only for myself, what am I? If not now, when?
